THE PLUSHIES
TRAVEL TOO_
Some people pack light. I always make room for a friend.
Oshikatsu (推し活) is everything you do to support your favourite. For me that means concerts, events, and taking a plushie to places it has no business being, like a Formula 1 shop or the top of a mountain.
As the magazine that interviewed me said:
I spoke with some attendees who had come all the way from Italy. None of their oshi were performing at this event, but they came along with friends simply because it was London's first VTuber event. What stunned me first was how naturally the words “my Kami-Oshi is…” came up in conversation. Born and raised in the land of eight million gods, I have never once used the word kami-oshi myself. It was a moment that shook my pride as a Japanese person to its foundations.
They respect Japanese oshikatsu: not just the gear, like happi coats, penlights and ita-bags, but holding their oshi in high regard and following a disciplined, almost kata-like way of cheering learned from Japan. When I asked what an oshi is to them, they said: “a comforting presence”, “like a friend you can casually lean on” and “it's fun to support someone talented and watch them grow.”
> Translated from Japanese. Kami-oshi (神推し): your god-tier favourite.
> translator's note: I had no idea I was shaking anyone's national pride. Sorry, Japan._

PIT STOP_
Living next to the Temple of Speed does things to a person.
From Maranello to Indianapolis, with BMW Welt and the home circuit in between. Every position on the timing tower is a different stop, and P8 (Forza Horizon 6) is the virtual garage.
